The Flagler College Study Abroad Office (SAO) oversees and coordinates all off-campus international programs and all domestic off-campus, credit-bearing programs for students. SAO is committed to developing engaged, informed and culturally-competent critical-thinkers through diverse curricular and co-curricular programming that emphasizes cultural immersion, reflection, and experiential learning. SAO maintains service excellence by providing individualized, student-centered support throughout the entire study abroad process. SAO aims to model lifelong learning and a commitment to international education through continuous improvement and assessment of programs and services, and through ongoing collaboration with academic departments and co-curricular offices.
Faculty–led study abroad programs, offered through Flagler College, are a wonderful opportunity to gain significant international experience while enrolled in Flagler courses. Flagler faculty programs usually range from one to four weeks, with most occurring in the summer, and offer credit for one or two courses. During Summer 2014 our faculty will go to Peru’ for 4 weeks learning the Spanish language, in Bermuda our science department will undertake a field course, making the students experience the wonderful secrets of the ocean. And finally, to have a better understanding of history, the study abroad is built around the 70th Anniversary of the D-Day invasion in Normandy.
