Every day is a new adventure–today brought about a 3 hour bus ride to Seville, the beautiful city which houses the third largest Cathedral in the world home of Christopher Columbus’ bones, and the Alcazar. These two locations are absolutely stunning. Unlike the cathedrals in Granada they take a gothic form and are dimly lit, although still utilize lots of silver and gold detailing in the sculpture work. Stepping inside this cathedral was like finding hidden treasure; although they did have a section devoted to the treasure housed in the cathedral. These ornate pieces of silver, gold, and beautiful pieces of artwork demonstrated the time period as well as the people who lived during it.
The Alcazar was a special place for me; not only was this a wonderful palace with beauty around every turn, one of my favorite tv shows was partly filmed here. Game Of Thrones was partly filmed at the Alcazar, and is filmed around Spain as well. The history of the palace and what it housed is incredible. Although we didn’t have time to see the Plaza de España, the sights we saw in Seville were worth the drive.
Once back in Granada, some of us headed out for dinner at a Vegetarian Mexican restaurant–we got a little turned around while finding it, we witnessed the most beautiful procession along the way. Sometimes you have to stop and smell the roses, and this was one time that even though the day was stressful, long, and we were hungry, it was worth taking the 20 minutes out of our day to see the once in a lifetime ‘parade’ of sorts. Once we found the restaurant, in a roundabout way of sorts, we all ate the most incredible meal, albeit Mexican food in Spain.
Each day is an adventure, I’m taking it one day at a time, and savoring every second of it.
